What is Seasons in Whistler?
Seasons in Whistler is a seasonal holiday accommodation provider for anyone who wants to come out to Whistler, BC Canada and have the time of their life. We are based in Whistler so you will benefit from our local knowledge and 24 hour assistance. We are a small personal company with your best interests in mind. We are also very passionate about snowboarding and snowmobiling.

What if I want to work in Whistler?
The best thing to do is contact your local Canadian Embassy or Consulate and ask about a tempory working visa. This visas allow you to work for a period of up to one year. There are lots of jobs in Whistler for all types of people.

Visas for Whistler
You will not need a VISA to travel and stay in Canada for up to 12 months intended stay. On arrival - customs will require evidence of:
1. Proof of where you are staying - ( our confirmation letter )
2. Proof of sufficient funds to support yourself whilst in country - eg £2,000 is minimum for 6 mths (bank statement)
3. Any additional info that proves you have something to return back to in the UK - eg a job to go back to.

Working in Canada
The only way to work is if you can get hold of a student work VISA - via BUNAC, then you can work. For this you need to be age 18 - 30 and be in current degree or equivalent college course such as an HND / NVQ, or at post grad level. Or have a guaranteed University/college offer to go tpo when you return from Canada thus taking this as a gap year.

Is there anywhere I can access the internet?
There are 5 internet cafes in Whistler and free internet at the library. There is also a wireless internet network being built for the main Whistler village.

How do I get around?
There is an awesome local bus service which can get you to anywhere in Whistler - You can buy a monthly pass for $50 CAD and ride as much as you want or pay $1.50 pre ride - the buses run later than the bars are open. Buses around the central village are free. There are also two taxi services.

How many night clubs are bars are there?
In Whistler there are about 150 places to get a drink with about 10 main pubs and 6 main nightclubs.

Can I get phone cards/stamps and how much are they?
A local stamp is 42c and overseas is $1.60 - phone cards can be bought in $5, $10 and $20 values which vary in length depending on where you are calling.

What is the minimum wage?
The minimum wage is about $8 CAD - with some companies you can get bonuses when you work for them like a season ski pass.

What is the conversion from English pounds and US$ to CAD$?
The pound is about $2.20 CAD and US$1 is about $1.30 CAD

Do you accommodate for couples?
Yes we most certainly do. We do have several rooms perfect for couples.

What if my boyfriend or girlfriend wants to visit can they stay with me?

No. Each property is for the use of our clients only as we don't want people surfing the couches and sleeping on the floors for fire safety reasons. We can however help you friends find alternative accommodation.

What are the prices of food and clothes like?
Food is very reasonabley priced and there are several supermarkets to choose from. You can budget on about $30 CAD a day. Clothes and snow equipment is also well priced and we help you to get some good deals around town - usually a 10% discount.

Can I get a refund on my accommodation if I injure myself?

Yes - All of our clients must have travel and medical insurance and from these companies you will receive a refund for your losses.

Do they have terrain parks at Whistler?

Yes - both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains have terrain parks and halfpipes Blackcomb mountain has an expert park and super pipe where all the big ski and snowboard events are held and the pro's train and film.

Can you go skiing and riding out of bounds or do you lose your pass?

Definately - this is part of the whole Whistler experience however we recommend having all of the necessary backcounty gear and taking a free avalanche awareness course. You can even sign up for guided tours or go snowmobiling in the backcountry.


What are the locals like?
Whistler locals are super nice - they are very helpful and service orientated.

What is the time difference from the UK?
8 hours behind.

What is the average age of the people I will live with?
We take people aged 19 years (the legal drinking age in Canada) and older in our accommodations with the average age being in the mid to late twenties.

What is included in the accommodation?

All the houses are fully loaded with media gear, kitchens, bedding, cable t.v., telephone and heat.

Is there a cinema in Whistler?

Yes there is one village 8 cinema with all the latest films and also a small local cinema.

When does the season start and finish?
Accommodation is offered from the middle of November until the end of April - check each of the individual properties for exact dates and pricing.

Do many people come by themselves?

We have the majority of our accommodation bookings from a mixture of individuals and couples. Everyone is coming out to Whistler for the same reasons - to meet some new friends, go play on the mountain and have a great time. If we have large groups of 8 or more people we do our best to help them organize their own accommodation.

What if I want to become a ski or snowbaord instructor?
There are lots of courses which are run during the winter and we can help you with this.
